Why is the computer not charging or booting? Battery removal works.

Hello,

I work at a school and we have several Asus Chromebook 202 that suddenly wont boot or charge. When the power adapter is connected no led is lit. I have manged to figure out a solution to make the Chromebooks boot and charge again.

Disconnect the battery and plug in the ac adapter and the Chromebook will boot. Then disconnect the ac adapter and connect the battery. The Chromebook will now boot from battery and charge.

Does anyone know of a more simple solution to this problem and why it happens? I have had my thoughts about shipping mode. But I have not figured out how to make the Chromebook boot in any other way than the above mentioned.

Hi Dennis,

Did you consult Asus support on this matter? I also work at a school, in the past we used a lot of Asus computers, both laptops and desktops. In my experience their support department is very helpful, but of course this could depend on the country you’re in. Asus support is your best chance though, they’re the experts on their gear!
