Speaker and headphones playing at the same time?

I have an HP laptop, I don't know what kind. I have apple earbuds plugged into the laptop and sound plays out of them, but it also plays out of my laptop speakers. I've tried disabling speakers through devices and printers to no avail, and my earbuds do not even show up in playback devices. I have tried many different ear buds. I'm not super tech savvy, so I might just be an idiot, but any help is super appreciated!
