iPhone 6s suddenly turned off after screen replacement

After replacing my screen the phone was working perfectly fine. I opened up snapchat and attempted to take a picture. Then all of sudden the screen went completely black. I tried to turn it back on for a few hours then came to the conclusion that the screen was defective. A few days later my current screen came. I have installed it but this time the screen wont even turn on. The battery is new and I can feel the vibrations when connected to power. It is detected by iTunes so I know the actual phone still works. Also, the screen comes to life (flickers) occasionally when connected to power. Personally I believe I damaged my Logic board with a long screw but I wanted the opinion of someone who knows what they are talking about. If you have made it this far thank you and have a nice day :).

The first thing to check is the backlight circuit. Connect the phone to an iTunes enabled computer and then shine a bright light on the screen. If you can see a dim image on the screen, then you may have blown the backlight circuit on the logic board. When you replaced the screens, did you disconnect the battery prior to disconnecting the screen?

As for long-screw damage, that is always possible. Just take a look inside the screw holes. If everything looks black, minus some blue thread locker or sometimes some metal scrapings from the screw, then you should be good.

I accidentally did not disconnect the battery once removing the previous screen. I saw a spark and it smelled like something was burning. I was worried but i am pretty sure I only ruined the screen as I could see the connector (the little gold bars that you connect to the phone) was bent. Could I have damaged something then? As for the backlight thing I will check later as i'm not even home lol.

Any time you release the magic smoke, bad things will happen :>). The backlight filter is right next to the connector so that is probably what smoked. It may have worked for a bit before dying completely. This corresponds to your description.

The only way to fix that is via a micro-soldering repair.

So it is possible to fix but will take the work of a professional I assume?

That's correct. Any soldering required on the logic board is not really DIY fixable unless you have good tools and a certain amount of experience.

Sorry to bother you so much but on average how much does this repair cost? And in your opinion is it even worth fixing or just buy a new phone? (And yes I have stuff on the phone I want to keep) ;(
