My battery charge only last 5 mins

Is there a way to refurbish this, as you can't buy the battery pack on version one of the toy?

I have the same problem, the battery pack for the original Pleo can no longer be purchased. Is there a custom shop for batteries or a way to fix it without frying the robot.

If you can provide more information that would be helpful.

I am unsure of what type of battery you have in this toy and if you can get to it.

I’ve seen two solutions to this (but have yet to try them).

One is to tear the battery pack apart and replace the cells with standard AA Ni-MH cells. Apparently, you will need to break off the brown part and glue it back again afterwards, there are two screws hidden under it. Also, you will need to cut the plastic open, and you will need to solder the new cells together correctly (look at the old ones for guidance.

I’m really not sure about soldering Ni-MH cells, and I don’t really like breaking the plastic apart, considering I might do the same procedure again some time.

The other solution is to replace the battery pack with a 6 cell AA battery holder. The report I’ve seen about this mentioned that their Pleo worked fine, but died the day after. This might be related to the fact that they used 1.5V batteries, running the Pleo on 9V instead of 7.2V. I think your Pleo should be fine as long as you use 1.2V Ni-MH cells and probably will try this solution myself, but I haven’t read any successful report yet.

Update: I just found a thorough article about that: https://robostuff.com/diy-projects/pleo-...

Apparently, the first approach is tricky for one more reason: you might end up with a battery pack that will not charge in the original charger, if you mess up with the termistor that’s part of the battery pack (the third connector)
