iPhone 6 shuts down closing the phone (screen replaced)

Hi there,

Last week I got an iPhone 6 for repair. After closing the phone shuts down immediately.

This happens everytime I try this (first closing it will cause it to not even boot).

I tried insulating the screen from the mainboard with electrical tape, no result. It’s like the backplate is causing a short. please take note when the phone is like 2mm open, the phone stays on.

Does anyone has a guess or experience?

And yes I reseated the connections a few tiles, tried another screen, no result.

Update 1: have left the phone open for half a week in plane mode, still on.

I'm waiting for replacment parts: new home button and backplate flex.

That is quite bizarre. I can only think that is something is being pushed down that's causing the shut down. Could you send an image of the inside with the tape off and one with the battery and lcd cables disconnected to inspect those areas?

I will try to make some pictures. I noticed I'm not the first one opening this device.

ensure the battery is not swollen try another battery, also the phone booting may require the home button and front camera connected.

The Tigris and Tristan need to recognize the battery in order to boot, if there is a defect in the battery your issue arises.

Did you try with other LCD?

Possibly LCD flex short when flips 360 degrees, and working properly when it's in straight position.

Well screen flex cables usually get damaged once they get bent past 90° degrees.

Was not the cause in this case

solved: the new battery was causing the shutdown for still unkown reason(s)

The battery connector had a insulator, so no leak-current from there.

Anyone a theory how a faulty battery can cause this very, very strange behaviour?

I replaced the battery with another new one and everything works fine.
