Just for clarification, what happens when you switch on the camera? Does it turn on for a second and then shut off? Do you see any power to the lcd? Does the power indicator light come on?

I think that I solved the problem. I cleaned the contacts on my camera body and also the lens. I also turned the image stabilization off. We will see how that works
