Charging Cable tip stuck inside port, need help

Block Image

Hi,

the tip of my charging cable broke and is stuck inside my ipad. I have tried the safety pin tip but all my safety pins instantly bend. I have dug a little bit of the white material in the middle of the broken part out but I am unable to get it out. Any tips for getting the tip out of the charging port? When I took it to the store, they said I would have to replace the entire ipad.

Replace the entire iPad for that little problem? That’s probally one of the most ridiculous things apple has ever said! Anyway, could you include a picture to see what we’re working with?

Hi, I've edited it to attach a picture. As you can see, I attempted to drill a hole in the middle of it but all that happened was that I got a hole. I have been unable to get it out of the port.

Do you have tweesers?

Nothing small enough to fit inside.

I have heard that you can put super glue on the end of the plug and reinsert and hold until it dries and then remove the piece. Have not tried yet.

Replacing the whole thing is rather absurd.

Things I would.

  • Asking a family member or friend for small tweezers. I'm pretty sure any of your female friends that wear make up will have some sort of tweezers to pluck their eyebrows with.
  • Duct tape and a toothpick, fold the duct tape small enough fit and use the toothpick to apply the pressure to make it stick to the piece. once you feel like it's ready pull it out quickly in alignment of the usb.
  • I would also go as far as hot glue or gorilla glue to adhere an object (tooth pick, Popsicle stick, etc) and yank it out.

You got this.

This may or may not work, but if you have a drill bit small enough you can repeatedly drill holes in the charger until it break is into smaller pieces which fall out. But you need to be careful not to let it slip. That would do a lot of damage if it slips. Also do not drill so close to the edge that your hitting the sides of the connector.

I got the entire end of the charger stuck in so What I did is I got a pin [the kind that goes on bulletin boards] and I picked at the inside until the metal inside till it came out then I squashed what was left if it up [the cover's quite easy to bend] and pulled it out when it was small enough. This took roughly 3 minutes. I should probably also mention I have small hands so if you can't get your fingers in there you should use a pair of pliers. [I recommend the kind you use for splinters ].

Hope this works for you, good luck!

Small flathead screw driver like for fixing glasses. Drop of crazy glue (the gel worked best). Press into the broken tip and hold (do not get the glue on the inside of the iPad hole). After a minute, pull strait out and the piece will dislodge and be glued to the screw driver tip.

I used my embroidery scissors. They have a thin sharp point. I picked back and forth removing the white paper till I could see the end. I pushed it away from the sides and it popped right out!! It took about 10 minutes. Thank you all for your suggestions!

Happened to me today. AT&T said I had to get a new phone. Came home and pulled it out with a tooth scaler tool.

APPLE ARE SCAMMERS! THEY ALWAYS DO THIS! TELL YOU TO REPLACE YOUR WHOLE COMPUTER FOR SNALL KITTLE THINGS.

These was a case of guy who took out their own power cord to see if the tech guy knew what was going on. We framed them. The tech guys couldnt figure out such a simple problem and then made up BS that it couldnt be fixer a d almost 3000 for this same model oflaptop.

Then they got confronted and fixed it in front of them. They were.ordered out of the store

The same thing happened to me today. The charger tip broke off and got stuck in my iPad. I used one of the tiniest drill bits I have (for jewelry making). I slowly and carefully screwed it into the stuck piece by hand. (I screwed it in a bit diagonally.) And I pulled it up, and the tip came out without much resistance, thankfully.

Before trying the drill bit, I tried one of my tweezers, a safety pin and a push pin. The tweezers were a bit too big for the opening. The safety pin was too big to go in. The push pin couldn't really go into the stuck tip piece.

If you have a tiny drill bit, that may be your best bet.
