Issues to get to work my brand new Gaggia style.

I recently bought I gaggia grand style espresso maker, I’m trying to get it to work but so far I have not been successful, according to the seller I needed to get a step up transformer to make it work if I live in the USA to go from 110v to 220v. I bought the transformer and followed the instruction to do the conversion and nothing happens, Did I get the wrong information? I have to say that out of curiosity, I plug the machine directly to the outlet with a plugin converter/adapter that I had from a charger and the machine worked, but only to get the water out of the tank through the steam wand but nothing through the brewing unit. Any info will be appreciated!

Thank you all for your time answering my post!

I got the machine at eBay from a store that is located in Milan, Italy. I unfortunately have no clue about messing around with electricity and my first thought is that I am going to blow up the entire house!! Now, my question is: the machine turns ON and runs the water only from the steam wand when it’s conected to the wall jack(pic1) using the little black adapter(pic2) I’m in California does it mean I’m running 220? If so, do I still need the step up transformer or do I need something different? Here are some pictures of what I think is helpful. Thanks again for your help!!!

Aaaguilarrafael so this is a brand new machine. What location did you buy it from may give us more of a clue about what is going on with it. Not sure why you were told you needed a transformer unless it is from a country that uses 220/240V. Give us more information about this transformer as well. Voltage and amperage will definitely become important. Check the labels/tags on your machine to see if there is any mention about the voltage needed for running it. I'd hate to tear into a brand new machine since that can void any of your warranty.

Aaaguilarrafael from the data label on your Gaglia it looks like you need a 4 Amp transformer. Your's appears to have a max of 2A. Could be the problem

I am from Italy, Milano. My guess is that you need the right transformer with the right wattage in order to get the Gaggia machine work. May be that the transformer you have is sufficient to run the pump inside but not the heater which draws much more power. I agree with oldturkey03: send the data written on the label or send the photo. I will be happy to help you. Ciao from Michele
