It would help if you gave us more information. Has your iPad fallen or been otherwise physically damaged? Has it come into contact with water or other liquids in the past? Has it been repaired or opened?

Regarding charging issues, it could be quite a few things. The battery is usually the problem but you would have noticed reduced battery life over the last few months. Batteries don't normally just die overnight. I would also inspect the inside of the charge port to see if there is any dust/lint physically obstructing the connection. It's best to use magnification and clean it carefully, you don't want to bend or damage the pins.

Low-cost, non MFi certified cables and chargers can damage the charging circuitry inside your iPad. That would require a micro-soldering repair.
