After changing my battery my screen wont turn on

My screen will only turn on when the screen isn't fully closed like if I un screw and open the screen to where I can see inside the phone or don't press it fully closed to where you can see a gap on one side. If I close the screen completely it shuts off and wont turn on. I checked all connections and they seem fine to me.

Hi Angela,

Thanks for posting your question!

It sounds like the LCD cable in your replacement screen is either damaged, or improperly positioned. Can you tell me where you got the display assembly from? If you did not source from a legitimate established supplier (such as iFixit) then you may have a part that is either faulty or particularly prone to this type of failure from the cables not having the "correct" amount of flex in them. Some of the lower quality displays have flex cables that will easily cause the display to not function properly when an increased amount of bend is put on them, such as going from open to closed when installing the display assembly.

I hope you find this answer to be useful. Please be sure to ask if you need further help or clarification!

Best,

Joshua

Hey Angela,

I'm a technician down under in Australia - Hi mate!

Check that the cables are folding in the right place and that there are no loose screws floating around in there that could be putting pressure on the flex cables/pulling the from the solderpads where flex meets lcd.

Another thing is re-test your old battery just to rule it out.

Thanks

Ben

I checked it nothing seems out of place to me. And I can't retest the old battery cause the reason I am replacing the old one is because it was inflated causing the screen to not close all the way.
