Why I am not getting the internet?

One of the problems with thunderstorms is the power surge of a lightning strike hits the power lines as well as when it hits near your building/house.

The first thing is make sure you have at least a surge suppressor for your all of the outlets your equipment is plugged into. If you can, get a good quantity UPS as that offer still better protection. That will protect your equipment from a power surge.

A nearby lighting strike is more difficult to protect one's gear. Here the only answer is to turn off your gear and unplug it so it's not connected in any way. A near strike can find its way in through your power, phone or cable (internet) lines as well as the ground connection of your power service fusebox.

I've even seen it come though a window and hit the Ethernet wiring within the building which then found its way into all of the connected gear. I've heard of strikes also ionizing the air to the point it even damages radios (FYI: your WiFi Router is a radio).

So the sad truth here is your Router is likely damaged from either a power surge or a direct hit near you. Time for a new router unit and a good surge suppressor or two at least!
