Screen Failure, Graphics Failure--Options

So I wanted to try a 15 MBP and purchased a "for parts" 15 in MBP retina late 2013 with graphics problems hoping I could cheaply fix the problem. Well no dice on fixing the problem, as the LCD doesn't work (purchased A-stock replacement that didn't work) but works on external display. Did all the pram zapping etc that has been posted all over the internet to no avail.

Question is, assuming this is a logic board issue, what is the best fix? Buy new LB? Take it somewhere and hope they can fix it? Sell it all on ebay as a parts purchase?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

If it is outputting video, the graphics chip should be fine. Best bet is to take it to someone who does logic board repairs.

It could be a no backlight issue (if you can see dim image, but it is not lighting up) or no picture (completely blank), which are simple problems to fix for a company who knows what they are doing.

Find some places local to you, call around and get a quote for logic board repairs. Usually most companies (who offer this service) will offer fixed price, or certain prices relevant to the actual issue on the board.

Can see the images when I put the flashlight up to the screen so definitely a backlight issue.

If you have a multimeter and soldering equipment, and can get schematics and board view for your board (most likely 820-3662), I can give you a few points to measure.

Backlight issues are usually the easiest to solve, just depends on if you know how to solder. If not, sending it to a shop is best

If so:

Take it to Apple and request they test it for this issue and see if you can get it repaired for free:
