I had this problem. When I took apart the PS3 to clean the dust, replace the thermal paste and hard drive, I started getting this error when trying to update.

What fixed it was replacing the CMOS battery (watch battery on motherboard). From a suggestion from this guy. The CMOS battery change did the trick.

I am getting error code (8002F147) on my PS3

I have the same issue , stuck at 99%, then reboots. I have tried everything accept the wifi, bluetooth module., I formatted fat32 on both hdd and USB ran in safe mode, option 6, and ran untill 99%. I am going to investigate he wifi module though, what happened with my unit is I updated the unit and the power went off. Eversince I can't install the update. Any new help please??

You can try to replace the CMOS battery inside your PS3. This would involve you taking apart your PS3 though. So that depends on how confident you are with taking apart your PS3

Error code 8002F147 is caused by your console not being able to properly read the media that the update PUP file is on.

I actually got this error after a combined operation of dust cleaning, changing cooling paste and installing a new SSD plus a new cmos battery before trying to update. I got this loop and after reinstalling the original HDD it would not boot either.

After reopening the console

I found that the ribbon cable to the wireless module was not properly inserted during reassemby. After just reinserting that cable the update did finish and the ps3 worked as normal again.

So probably a bad wireless card in my case, but thankfully it didnt need to be replaced, just reconnected.

Several possibilities:

1) Bad bluetooth/WiFi card - this is easy to replace.

2) Bad nor chip - this requires soldering

3) Bad Hard drive - this is easy to replace.

4) Try downloading the update to a USB stick and update that way.

The real problem is with the bluetooth/WiFi card. It wasn't working before the system update. I'm afraid of removing the parts of ps3 and soldering. The SONY service centre said that, my ps3 can't be repaired and can only be replaced with a huge amount. What should I do now? Can I skip the update loop without completing it?

- de

If the Bluetooth is bad, then no. The DualShock 3 uses Bluetooth to connect to the Ps3.

- de

Yes, that's right. My controller is not working wirelessly. But please tell me a solution to skip this update. I cant play now. When I turn on the system, it will directly starts updating and repeats the same problem. I have no access to the XMB menu now... Please tell me a solution to skip this update without updating it.

Try this. While the PS3 is off, take out the hard drive. When you turn the hard drive back on, you will get "missing hard drive error code". Without turning off the PS3 again, simply insert the hard drive. According to another thread, the update may continue. Otherwise you will have to replace the bluetooth chip.

- de

When I turned on my PS3 without hard drive, it shows a message like " hard drive is missing". No updates are going on that time. As you said, I inserted the hard drive without turning off the PS3, but nothing had happened. After sometime, I restarted my ps3 without removing the hard drive. Soon, the update started and stopped at 61%

Had this error also. I let it restart on its own a few times but still get the error. So I held the power button down till beep (PS3 shuts off), unplug the power cord from socket for a few minutes (2-3 min should be good), plug it back in to socket, press the power button, update install should start up again. Mine completed after that!

Error code 8002F1F9 means your bluetooth/wifi module isn’t working properly. That could mean the module, components on the module, or components connected to the bt/wifi module are faulty. Sometimes it can be fixed with a voltage regulator. I know this is an old thread but these are just suggestions/starting places for anyone that is still dealing with this. There’s no guarantee that any of this information will help you.

Further notice.please remain on this firmware

And I have waited for an hour now I have seen nothing

Still relevant and helped me figuring out it was all caused by a loose ribbon cable (from motherboard to wireless module).
