I bought a xbox one without a internal hard drive and tried the offline system update with a external plugged in it did the update but when it gets to the install part it wont install goes back to troubleshoot or restart do you have to have a internal hard drive fo it to work?

External storage is just for storing games, music, and other media. It will not work for the OS. Any 2.5 inch hard drive will work.

Yes, you must have a hard drive. Where in the world did you buy a Xbox one without one?

Somebody on offer up paid 60 he said it needed a new disc drive never said anything g about the hard drive thanks for the response
