Touch ID not working after screen replacement

So I attempted to replace a broken screen on the iPad mini 4. I successfully replaced the screen and home button but then realized the Touch ID isn't working. Of course, after the fact, I read how this can happen. I removed the home key and replaced to new screen but a small cable tore and unsure what exactly it does and how to repair. I took a picture but unsure how to upload. It's a small square to the left of the home key.

Solución Elegida

Based on your description (I don't see pictures), you tore the delicate home button connector, and unfortunately, there's no way to replace this and retain TouchID functionality. The only way to regain TouchID functionality is to get a paired logic board/home button assembly. For security reasons, each TouchID sensor is binded to a logic board during manufacturing, so you cannot replace one or the other without replacing both.

Even though the home button still works? Any idea how much that costs?

I believe that the home button uses POGO style contacts to make a connection, and that only TouchID data travels through the ribbon cable. iFixit does not have any replacement parts for this particular model of iPad, but it is not a cheap or easy repair (>$300).
