iPhone 5C not charing after dock connector replacement

I am working on an iPhone 5C and it came to me as not being able to charge. I ordered the new battery and a new dock connector and the repair went smoothly. After the repair was finished, i tested the phone and it seemed to charge just fine. But when i was running the tests, i noticed that the screen was a little screwy so i ordered the new screen and the phone sat over the long weekend (i forgot to power down the phone) and came back to it being deader than a nail in the door. which i figured i would use this to my advantage since i had to drain the battery anyways to calibrate it. so i put it on the charger and nothing happened. and after that, i couldn't even get the screen to light up. i tried plugging the charger that is known working in a known working outlet. i tried checking my connections on both the dock connector socket and the battery socket. ive even tried putting the old battery back in the phone and still had no luck. So that is the point that i decided to ask the community because im sure its something stupid that im overlooking and just need someone to point it out. Thanks guys!

When you '(i forgot to power down the phone)' Does that mean you forgot to turn off the phone and unplug the battery?

Normally, the battery is the weakest link. There are lots of shoddy batteries being sold. Ideally, you want to isolate a variable here to know what direction to follow in your troubleshooting. Can you test the original or replacement battery on a another device? That way you would know if you have a known-good battery or not.

Charge ports, and all small parts, are also notorious for poor quality. Again, you would need to isolate this part by testing it on another device.

If the batteries and charge port are good, then you likely have a defective charge circuit (U2/Tristar) on the logic board. If your shop has the tools and skills to do micro-soldering repairs, then you can try to replace Tristar. Otherwise, look for someone who does micro-soldering repairs to properly diagnose this.
