Managed to make my battery spark/short

My battery needed replacing on my iphone 6. I ordered a new one and followed a good Youtube video on how to replace it. Anyway I got to the part where I had to remove the battery and like an idiot I used a flat bladed screw driver and tried to pry the battery away from the glue (I removed one row of glue using the tabs). Anyway a small spark (almost like when you initially light a match) came from the battery then died down, then appeared again 20 seconds later. I quickly put the phone in a sealed bag, into a metal tin and now its outside.

What I want to know is, should I attempt to carry on? I don't want it to explode and potentially hurt me, or should I just bin it (properly) and buy a new phone? Thanks for the help in advance.

Assuming your phone hasn't entirely combusted in the bin ;>)...

Follow this guide, specifically steps 20-24 on how to remove the battery safely. There are special pull tabs for safely removing a battery. Ideally, you should install new battery adhesivewhen you re-install a new battery.

Ok, thanks. I was trying to fix my screen and I hit it down because I'm a mong and the metal from the screen hit the battery, if I'm correct, there's 3 layers on the battery and I got through the last one but the spark died down, it didn't smell nice at all and I $@$* myself when I saw the spark and I put it on the wooden table and moved everything flammable away like paper, my wallet and all that. What will happen if I plug it in now? I am very curious but if it blows up I don't want my entire phone to catch flames and have to get a new one, I'm guessing I either broke the battery or shorted it big time. Poor IPhone 6

It won't explode, it just burns and releases toxic smoke, no big deal.

Yea...the match burning analogy makes me think he just popped the battery. Should be fine. Nothing I would recommend doing on purpose but it happens and I've certainly done it.

OK...I just did it last week. FINE! ARE YOU HAPPY?

unless it is still plugged into the phone then you could short out / burn the connectors
