Hey Angela, Most likely scenario is the battery having run dry. I've had to replace the battery of the fob on quite a few keys.
I'd love to help you out on the exact SmartKey, but Merc has changed these quite a few time.
There should be a small break in the plastic that you can fit a flat scewdriver in, twisting the driver should open the fob and you can see the type of battery required. pop in the replacement and press the fob closed again. Good as new :)

Changed the batteries and it still doesnt work after we finally got the alarm to quit going off everytime we hit the brakes or put it n drive now my turn signals, wipers,and windows want work
Sounds like the issue isn't with your keyfob, but the onboard computer. perhaps find a shop that has a tool to read out the on board computer.

Looks like the computer is bad. Take it to a shop or better a merc dealer and they should be able to diagnose the issue and replace what's screwed up. It does sound like the computer however as your having those strange issues. Could also be fuses although unlikely, check all the fuses and look to see if they have broken
