iPhone 6+, touch ID doesnt work after screen change. Orig home button

Thanks for looking. Did a 6 plus screen, no issues at all taking it apart. Battery was the first thing disconnected. Removed home button, camera, etc, no issues at all. Swap everything and before I put the covers on for the battery, screen/home/camera cables... I test the phone. No issues. I put all the covers back on, seal it up and then get a cannot setup touch id error...I take it apart, remove the home button cover, test and its fine, put the cover back and get an error. Remove the cover, reseat the connector, no error, put cover on, no error. Seal it all back up, restart, no error. Customer takes it, goes to setup his touch id and it wont work. Any thoughts? Would you think its a pinched cable issue or an issue as stated by zzcharlyzz on Sept 20th at this link Touch ID not working after screen replacement?

Is it possible it wasn't seated right, then I got it seated right (when I reseated, the battery was not disconnected) and then it got stuck in that loop that wont recognize it?

Thank you both, I cannot see how the sensor itself could've been damaged. Done so many of these and never had an issue. Had no problem removing the button. Everything was done powered off. Its a regular 6 plus...I ordered a new shield/cable so that when I have the phone in hand I can try the disco power, reseat cable, restart scenario and if that doesn't work then I will swap the cable and see what happens. Just trying to see if there is anything else it could be, so that when I have the phone, I can try other options. As for DFU, as its not my phone, I am trying to do the simpler/less invasive options lol

Hello,

I may be a bit late in answering this but I personally just replaced the display on my 6S+ and had this happen to me as well. I took it apart and disconnected and reconnected the home button cable maybe it is possible it is not completely reconnected I would double check the cable...

Hope This helps...

DFU your phone. It it doesn't work, your button is shot. It's the secure enclave's fault you can't replace it, so get familiar with seputil.

Hello earldfechterz, can you please give me some more informations about seputil? Maybe you can send me an email. I would be very happy if you can help me in this situation. I can not find much information on the internet about that. So when you are ready to help me with your information that would be awesome!

Thank you

If it's a 6s Plus it could be the LCD is defective. If it's a 6 Plus, you can try unplugging and replugging or cleaning with 99% alcohol but if that doesn't work, chances are you damaged the fingerprint sensor, and this can't be fixed as only the original home button will pair with the motherboards Touch ID
