Horizontal line after PRAM reset

Hi all,

Today I did the reset on the PRAM. The laptop started fine, but when it loaded almost completely, the screen showed a horizontal line. After that the screen was black and turnt on again. After that the laptop started fine. I saw about a recall of the 2011 models, so I think I'm going to send mine to Apple.

But has someone else had this problem? I read that It could be something with the FileVault, which I had on. I turnt it off, but still got the problem although the files are being decrypted atm.

I have seen that line several times on different machines but only in the last month. Are you running Sierra? Let's also see if @danj has seen this.

@mayer Yes I'm running Sierra. I read that is could be a 'glitch' with this OS and model machine. But strange that this is happening after the PRAM reset, or isn't it?

See if it is hitting about 60% of the way through the loading bar progress. That's when it loads the video driver.

A kind of similar glitch was happening in safe and recovery mode with the display flopping during loading in El Captain.

@mayer but the stripes appear as the photo shows, so about 45%.

Mine may hit a little later because of all my added programs. I really don't see an issue with it right now. Let see if others have noticed it.

@mayer but don't you think it's strange that this happened after the PRAM reset?

I would definitely go to Apple and have them run their internal test software to see if this is affected by the recall.

Do it soon, I'm sure you will, because the date at which this extended service program ends is the end of this year, 2016. After that, they won't replace it for free.

@skippingrock can you give a link as to when this program is officially ending because I have not seen it.

- de

@mayer https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro... at the bottom it says: The program covers affected MacBook Pro models until December 31, 2016 or four years from its original date of sale, whichever provides longer coverage for you.

Uas Thanks for reading the fine print
