Why is my shift gear lever stuck in park?
I have Ford Escape 2011 model. Suddenly, I noticed that the gear lever is stuck in park position and would't shift from there unless I depress the override button. I have the feeling that it may not be the shift solenoid because an auto electrician once used a jumper cable between the switch under the dash board/brake pedal and it (solenoid) actuated very well (though I told him to disconnect the jumber cable). Atimes the lever works well especially in the mornings but not always.

Update (11/19/2016)
Finally, I bought the brake light switch and replaced the old one but the gear lever is still stuck in park position when I match the brake pedal. It did not fix the problem.
Note the the brake light do come on whenever I match the brake pedal.
Is there any further solution to this?
Es esta una buena pregunta?
