put new battery in phone,stayed on for a few hours,then shut down,

put new battery in phone,stayed on for a few hours then switched off,put phone on charge goes straight to green,if I remove charger press phone on it keeps flashing red,tried different chargers that I know work,but it still does the same,can you help.
