New Battery not recognized? Bad new battery?

I replaced my battery per iFixit guide, but my Magsafe light shows no charging (stays green) , and my Battery Status menu says "No Battery Available".

Do I have a bad battery? Are there any DIY ways to test it?

Is there a step missing from install? Help?

Was the mag-safe light working on the swollen battery?

- de

Thanks for the reply. Somehow missed notification. Magsafe was/is working, but shows Green and power menu says "power source: power adaptor". I was expecting Yellow for charging, but it's still not seeing the battery after being plugged in all night.

Solución Elegida

Download and run Coconut battery to get a better idea of what's going on with the battery. Let us know your results. You did answer about the swollen one. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

On the Coconut Battery, run it again and get the information on the battery and post it, not the page about the machine.

The bottom half of that IS the battery info, but I'll doublecheck.

There are two boxes, one says Mac details the one to the right of it says battery details.

fixed above, i stand corrected.

What caused the battery to be replaced? There is battery management system that detects the voltage and control the charging system. I cannot give you exact solution unless there is some more information. I assume it might have some liquid contact to have the battery circuit to become like that or try to unplug the battery and the magsafe.

After the computer is off without any power source, push the power button once.

1) Push down the power button

2) Connect the magsafe

3) Release the power button after 10 seconds let the system boot in high fan.

4) Shut it off and unplug the power source

5)Connect the battery and plug in the charger

Lets see if it works. I might take a while to get back to the answer but that is a simple way to test or diagnose if there is no liquid contact.

The old battery swelled up in the space directly under the trackpad. I bought a new legit same spec replacement battery.

see fixed image above as well.

I will try suggested steps tonight. thanks

I tried this with no luck. The results are unchanged.

I reconnected the old battery and it works fine, so the connector on the MBP is fine.
