Can I power up my iMac with a broken LVSD connector?

I can't fix the broken LVSD connector right now so I was wondering if I could power the Mac up to use it with an external monitor (if it actually even works with the LVSD connector broken, I dunno). In other words is it true that I could further damage my logic board by using my iMac with that connector broken?

PS. As I've seen question wasn't completely clear, my LVSD connector fell of the motherboard. It's not on the motherboard anymore. And when I ask about motherboard damage I'm asking about burn some resistances and things like that.

BONUS

Since I'm thinking about fixing the component myself, what temperature should I use on the motherboard?

@dom1 when you speak of the temperature to use on the logic board, are you thinking about what temperature to solder or reflow? To fix the connector?

@oldturkey03 - now this is exactly why working with another tech is good. You saw something entirely differently than I did. Soldering never crossed my mind.

@oldturkey03 I'm talking about soldering. What's reflowing btw?

@mayer I updated the question to make it clearer. Thank you for your feedback.

I don't see any problem with using an external monitor, that's what I do to test out problems.

Bonus - What? Unless you plan on changing the hard drive, or already have, there's no temperature issues. There is if you've changed the hard drive. So let us know.

I've been told too much temperature can burn the mobo. Also I changed the optic drive with an SSD recently. What kind of implications would an HD replacement have had?

- de

@mayer That's not the kind of temperature problem I'm talking about. See comments under original post.
