Worn brew drive gear makes noise?

During rinse and also immediately after coffee flow stops there is an unusual noise that sounds a bit like a slipping gear or a loose part knocking. Any idea what could be causing this and might it be user fixable?

Hello,

that sound is from the electric-magnet at the drainage-valve.

When the brewing stops, the fluidsystem would rinse through the nozzle

in the front and it would give many drops of coffee.

So this problem is solved by the drainage-valve, which lets the water out and air in

to stop the tripping.

The electric magnet knocks a steel-needle at a plastic cap which is mounted to

a metal axle in the valve which then opens.

Sometimes these Juras make awful humming noises while the electric-magnet

has current, too. - when these Juras get older.

As long as the knock sound and the humming is only hearable while the drainage-valve has

opened evverything is okay. :)

Friendly greets and good luck. :)

But when it rattles it could be a damaged valve.

The noise is a very regular knocking that lasts several seconds, so perhaps the solenoid (electric magnet) cycling repeatedly due to some fault...

Ah, yes, solenoid is the word for "electric magnet", thank you.

Look at that video, it shows a damaged brewgroup,

but you can see the action of the valve:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxad75B2...

At 0,18 the solenoid gets current and opens the valve by pushing the metal axle. For that duration a humming noise is hearable, listen good.

At 0,23 the noise ends in the moment the valve snaps back.

If you hear fot those 5 seconds a knocking sound it is very shure that there is a problem with that solenoid, the valve or electronics.

I hope you understand me, sorry. :)

The brew group needs to be repaired by replacing the seals and cleaning it. Kits and instructions are available.
