How do I retrieve messages from my broken galaxy grand prime?

So my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime screen isn't working. The screen won't turn on, it looks like it has something to do with the screen projection since the backlight will still turn on but there wont be any other screen abilities i guess you could say. the phone works perfectly fine in every other way, it will receive messages and will calls and notifications and such but no screen use pretty much, so how do i get my text messages from this?
