PS4 eject button not responding. Not auto-eject. Works from UI.

I think I may have bent the small piece of metal on the underside case of the PS4 while cleaning it and now my eject button doesn't work with touch. It works fine using the controller to eject via the UI.

There is a small piece of metal which connects the touch makes the connection with the sensor and I do not know what shape it is supposed to be. I have looked for photographs and videos to see what shape it would be in so I can make it right before putting everything back together. It's really hard to see if it is making contact with the sensor when I put everything back together.

Can anyone provide assistance? What is the little metal piece supposed to look like? Mine sort of looks like a 7. This is the launch edition of the console.

It should look almost like a triangle but with one side not touching all the way. A great way to see if it's hitting the copper pad correctly is to take a Sharpie and color the copper pad...then when you put the lower case back on there will be a mark where the metal tab touches...if it touches at all.

Thank you, that was very helpful for me getting it lined up correctly. Unfortunately the button still does not work. I assume something happened to the sensor when I had it apart and it is not going to be possible to fix it.

Is there a safe way to test the function of the button without having the case on? Is there anything like a cord or wire that may have come ajar, or it is likely that it just got broken?

To test it without the case simply touch the copper pad on the board with your finger. That will tell you if it works or not.

Can you post a picture of what the metal is supposed to be shaped like

I'm having the same issue and removing/reinserting the cables didn't work. It's not the button itself as touching the pad on the small circuit board gives the same 3 beeps.

i have the same problem. I was also cleaning my ps4. I don’t believe the metal piece on the case is bent and it doesn’t seem to be the problem. When I touch the metal pad on the PS4 with my finger, there is still no beep.

I have disconnected and reconnected the data cable/s. Still nothing…

similarly to the initial post, I can eject discs using the software however nothing happens when pressing the button on the case (not even a beep).

Any more ideas?
