I have this problem too. The phone keeps telling me to mount an SD Card. And... I have no clue what that means or how to do it!

You can add a MicroSD card up to 32Gb to the phone. Put it in the slot above the battery inside the back cover.

Yes,the answer was helpful in getting a good morning laugh aahhhhaha ha oohhhhaha dang! That was goodthat whole conversation was short, polite and hilarious ...Thanks

Thanks, this answer was very helpful.

This answer is incorrect. Some versions of the N817 use GSM, while others do not, including Lifeline phones.

- de

@jmredingtx You are incorrect. The OP, Daniel, asked about SIM cards, not SD cards. You responded to a different person, timday365, who added a question about SD cards. Most others also asked about SIM card, but a year after your response, Maria Swope also asked about SD cards, but it was a different question - it was about migrating.

There are 2 types of cellphone technology: CDMA and GSM.

GSM uses a SIM card on phone carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, etc.

CDMA cannot take SIM cards and relies on an ESN number inside the phone. Carriers such as Sprint, Verizon, Boost Mobile, etc. use CDMA.

You cannot switch between GSM and CDMA carriers on this phone.

Here is the manual for the phone.

https://zte-iqorsupport.custhelp.com/ci/...

IF it is a CDMA, there is no SIM slot.

If it is a UTMS/GSM/LTE, the SIM slot is above the battery.

@oldturkey03 I don't get it... What's wrong with this answer?

- de

@pccheese those are the right facts. Ask yourself this, does it answer the original question "Where does sim card go?" The answer given by "Alex cruz" is specific. Now if you do some research on the device and you see that it is listed as having a Sim card slot. http://www.imei.info/phonedatabase/91927...

Sorry I'm waiting at the DMV taking forever, a lot of time I have ATM lol

The Sim-card is located inside the ZTEN817

Turn your device off prior to opening (from the bottom), once open one can then insert the sim card in the slot provided just above the battery.

To install one must first remove the battery.

That's it!

Hey Malfunction Junction, I guess you malfunctioned, because the OP asked about SIM cards, not SD cards...Which only some versions of the N817 have.

If you are referring to Lifeline phones (free phones), that is true, but other versions of the N817 take SIM cards. It's listed in the specs.

I’ll try again. Please read S W’s answer, as it was the correct one. Alex Cruz's answer is incorrect - GSM is shown in the normal specs for the N817 - but the Lifeline version does NOT have GSM as the government doesn’t want people putting a SIM into a free phone to effectively steal it.

If you follow Jo Anne’s instructions and find a SIM card slot, you have the regular N817. If you don’t, you have the other version, used for Lifeline phones. If you research it, you’ll find out it’s true.
