iMac display not working after replacing hard drive

I have searched through answers but still haven't found what I'm looking for.

After upgrading the hard drive in the imac 2389, the display is not working. I have checked several things and came to the conclusion that the lvds displayport cable was damaged so I ordered a brand new one to replace it. I had high hopes that it would solve the issue but after replacing it, the display still did not work.

I had the genius bar at apple look at it and was told it was the lvds but that it would cost over $400 to repair... so I continued to look for more answers.

I did find a question that had an answer similar to what I was looking for and the comments talked about the actual connector on the logic board that the cable connects to. My thoughts are if the orgibal cable was damaged, perhaps the connector is, too.

With a light on the screen, there is still no visual but the external display is working. Everything else seems fine.

I am hoping to receive input from others who have had this issue to confirm that this may be the issue or thoughts on what else could be causing the display to not work.

Can you take some detailed imaged of the LVDS cable end and its connection on the logic board so we can see clearly the contact pins. Post them in your question (edit mode)

I had the same problem. The reason was not the LVDS Connector but an exploded inductor on the main board. Maybe you want to have a look at

After HD changed, fuse (wall) tripped, no internal video, but external
