Constant Dripping from diffuser

My DeLonghi EC155 drips constantly from the diffuser. Is there a valve or gasket in side that needs replacing?

Hi,

I have been having this exact problem for the last couple of weeks.

Open the diffuser with a philips head screwdriver and keep it aside. Now you will see a brass fitting with a regular screw head. Open this up(I used the wide head of a swiss knife). Be careful while opening this fitting as a small spring in there tends to fall out.

Remove this spring. This has a small silicone ball on top. This is basically your valve which prevents water from dripping and builds up pressure before water can flow. Just clean the ball up and stretch the spring a little and reassemble the whole device.

This should solve your problem.

Hi,

I did this and it fixed it.

Another tip : If you do not have screw drivers with a short handle, it is possible to remove the collector (basin) of the machine (the part that collects the liquid when there is no cup). It is easy, turn the machine upside down and remove the 4 tork screws, then you can remove the basin part.

A dime also works to remove the brass fitting. Mine was too snug and I couldn't get enough torque with a screwdriver, but the dime worked.

Just when I thought I was on the road te repair, I noticed part of my ball at the end of the spring appears to be missing, so drat!

Above the silicone ball valve there has to be a small ø 4mm valve ring. That is the seat for the ball. These disolve over time and need replacement.

How do you access the 4mm valve ring and suggestions on where to purchase a replacement?

Hey,

I just did your tutorial and even bought a brand new complect spring with the silicon ball and replaced it but my machine is still dripping…. any other ideas?

I’ve opened the top and there wasn’t any water inside - everything looked clean.

I would guess a couple of things might be in play here.

Have you descaled the machine recently? I had issues once where built up scale caused the machine to drip.

The other reason could be the spring tension. Try and stretch the spring a bit. This usually used to resolve the issues in my machine.
