Clock resets to 1969, battery wont charge, ranom shutdown

Whenever I turn on my ibook the clock reads 1969, the battery says 5% and i can sometimes get it to 6 but then as soon as it gets turned off it goes back to 5, it says the battery has like 200 mah remaining but as soon as it gets unplugged it turns off, the battery wont hold a charge. It once held a charge but it wont anymore. And at random times it will shut off and the green indicator on the dc jack turns orange and i cant boot the ibook back up unless its green. Does anyone know whats going on? Any help is great!

The date and time are handled by a PRAM battery or capacitor or on the G4 iBook by the main battery. There's no PRAM battery on your iBook G4 model. It's the main battery who keeps the settings in memory.

You need to replace your battery to one that will hold a charge.

Here's the part: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u...

Here's how: iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz Battery Replacement

UPDATE

It actually charged or came charged? What does your power adapter do? Does it light up? What does your battery indicator say? Try downloading and running an the 2.6.6 version of Coconut Battery and tell us what it says. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

Well I replaced the battery a few months ago and it charged once but it never has since

@cam2363 Press the battery test button on the battery and see if it has a charge. Next use a multimeter on the power adapter and see if it's putting out any current.

I know it puts out current, it works on ac but not on battery. I have taken it apart since and have found atleast 2 cells at 0.00 volts. I have gotten new batteries but they were a bit to large and are not taking solder well and I just dont have the patience to be sitting there trying to put solder on them for it to just fall off again when i try to attach the wire.

There's no soldering involved with this. You got the wrong battery. Look at my links!

I think you misunderstood me. I have had another battery that was a cheap one from amazon, it was the one with the 0v batteries, and i got some new 18650 batteries of ebay to try and replace the batteries in the original battery pack that came with the iBook when i got it.
