Can't load into Windows

My computer went into non-stop automatic reset. After that, I decided to reset my computer to factory setting without removing my files. However the reset failed to finish , and told me to restart my computer. After I restart, my computer can't load into Windows, it just keep showing the logo of Acer. I am using windows 10. Could anyone help?

Hi,

Did you create a USB recovery drive for Win10, before your problems started? Have to tried using that to see if you can boot the PC into recovery mode and fix your start up problems.

Go into the Bios. This can be accessed by pressing the F2 key. I would repeatedly press it after powering up the laptop. Once you have reached the bios, change the bios mode. Then try booting again by restarting.

If the reset has failed, you can reinstall windows from a USB. But you may need to backup your files which in turn can be a hassle. If you do have to do this (hope not), then connect it to another desktop computer, and give full permissions for individual folders and backup your files.

Contact Microsoft via live chat on how to reinstall windows via USB. Your windows key will be installed on the bios, so it wont go. It can be accessed later via a product key finder tool.

Hi @Alakalula Green,

What BIOS mode are you referring to when you say "change the BIOS mode"?

BIOS makes changes to the hardware environment of the laptop.

Do you mean the Windows Recovery Environment? If so this cannot be accessed by changing any settings in BIOS. The way to access this is either to use a USB recovery drive (which technically you do have to change the boot order to USB in BIOS if this is what you meant to say earlier) or you boot into Windows and force stop it 3 times in a row and it will automatically go to WRE. Since ity is already there (in WRE) every time the laptop starts it must be corrupted so the best option is to use a USB recovery drive or the Windows installation dvd /repair option

When you say "connect it to another computer to back up the files", do you mean that the HDD has to be removed from the laptop and installed in the other PC as a second HDD?

If not how can the files be accessed if the laptop doesn't get past the repairing mode on startup? It is stated in the question that Windows doesn't load!

I suspect that the laptop is booting with the UEFI boot mode. If this is the case, then change it to legacy boot and restart the computer, hopefully it fixes the problem.

If you are already on legacy boot, try UEFI boot. If this does not work, revert back to legecy boot and follow the rest of the steps.

By reinstalling windows I mean a fresh reinstall. You will need to change the boot priorities as you stated to boot from the USB.

When I say connect to another computer, I mean as a secondary drive. This can be usually done by substituting it for the DVD or CD drive.
