My brother upgraded his iphone and had an extra second generation 3g 16gb iphone and unfortunately has no idea what his passcode was. i have attempted to factory reset the phone which itunes and apple support gave me directions to do. itunes doesnt pick up my device at all to restore it. how do i recover or reset this passcode?

Hello gabbiesmith5288, so when you tried putting the phone into recovery mode with the computer it did not sync?
