I have a htc one mini m4.
Pretty broken:-) with photos that I don't want to lose.
I have a second phone and plan to swap the part in with the memory... I guess its in the motherboard..
Any ideas?

Clint Harris not in the motherboard, but on it. The memory IC's are soldered to the motherboard and can not be swapped by conventional means. You will have to try and fix your device to get those files from it.

^^^ This :) Just put the board from the phone that has your files on it into a working device and you can back them up that way.
