How to remove resistors from the logic board of a ipad 2?

Hi I am trying to use the hardware method of removing icloud lock from an ipad 2 3G and WiFi.

I have gotten into the ipad and removed EMI shield, identified the resistor that needs to be removed (r1205)

Now, I'm going down to the shops today to bag meself a basic solder iron.

My question is, how do I exactly remove the resistor with the solder gun? I've never used one before.

Looked all over YouTube etc, no help whatsoever which is a first!

Please help?? :)

Thanks!

Albusdumbledore, you do realize that this will limit the capabilities of your iPad. I would not expect the holy grail of iCloud unlocking from removing those resistors. Also, you do realize the size of those is only 0.4mm x 0.2mml. So you will need a proper soldering iron with a microtip and a source for magnification. To hot and you'll destroy the pads, to cold and you'll tear the solder pads.Practice on an old board first. Usually this size of component comes off with just the heat from the iron.

Hi oldturkey03! Many thanks for your reply.

I do realise this can take away the capability of the 3g function of the ipad.

Thanks for your advise it's helped a great deal. I bought a basic soldering iron from maplin ealier. I'm going to try it and it's no loss to me if I mess up. Hopefully I will get this right. Do you have any idea what sort of temperature I need it at?

I also have a craft hot-knife with a very fine tip. Would this work better?

YouTube doesn't help a great deal.

There are guys on eBay that offer this service, it cannot be ultimately impossibly difficult I hope.

Thanks again.
