Why is my coffee froth darker than usual?

This is a problem that can be attributed to several minor issues. The first two are irreversible and are that the ground coffee was pressed down too firmly before frothing, or the ground coffee was too coarse. Similarly, two easily fixable ones are that there might just be too much ground coffee (remove excess coffee), or the ground coffee is too damp (remove and let dry).
