Why is screen almost black?
iBook G3 Dual USB has a black screen that I can read with a flashlight. Is it the logic board? How to test?

First, you are going to need to ID your Mac, so that I can point you to the correct part.
This is an inverter board issue. The inverter board is what steps up the voltage from your battery high enough to run your backlight. If your inverter board dies, there will be no backlight but the LCD will still manipulate its pixels, and you get the effect that you see.

Either the inverter board or the backlight has failed. Try it with the inverter changed first, much cheaper than an LCD. You might find a reasonable priced complete display assy an eBay though.
