Water damage concern, help!

My son's kindle fire HD6 kids edition tablet was dropped in a body of water by another kid. Needless to say he was beyond mad and I am too. Now, I am able to replace screens and flexes and whatnot, but I have not been able to get any water damage experience. My first reaction was to set it in rice.... HELP PLEASE

First, I would turn it on and make sure it works. Then, if it does, great! If it doesn't, then first plug it into charge and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, and if it still doesn't turn on, get a hold of Customer Support. Sorry if it was too late.

REMOVE the Battery immediately and DO NOT charge it as it increases the chances of shorting the internal components and causing irreversible damage..

ff the instructions below and hope the device still works:

[] put the tablet and its battery (disconnected from the tablet) in a "dry box" for 24-48 hours--> air tight container with a dehumidifier or plenty and pleny of dessicant/dessicator inside (the longer the better).

[] put them back again then turn it on.

[] try charging, look for signs of damage, i.e. flickering, not booting, etc.

Let us know what you've got...
