Is this a cable problem?

Hi!

My MacBook had this problem a long time now but it didn't bother. When I open the lid the screen is ok. Sometimes it's black or showing picture with some weird lines and colors. If I tilt it just a little bit it becomes ok again. If I don't move it from that point it stays good. What's going on? Is it some kind of cable that is out of its place? My brother's laptop did the same thing too, and they fixed a cable. Can I fix it by myself or do I need to go for service? I'm out of warranty.

Thank you!

Sounds like your LVDS cable. It connects the screen to the logic board. This is actually a very easy repair, but it's tedious as there are a lot of things to take apart. There are good guides here to take the screen assembly off the bottom case and then take the assembly apart. You'll need to replace the thick black cable that goes to your screen and your camera.

Can you please link the repair guide? Is this something you'd recommend to do it by myself? The repair guys ask for about 150€ and I totally don't want to give so much money for a problem that is almost non existent...

Hi, go to the service, its probably your LCD cable. Its advanced repair and you need good spare parts.

Hmm, ok. Seems as an advanced repair for me too, I will send it to service if it worsens. Luckily, the problem rarely presents itself.
