Error code F 05 repair tips please.

Hello we own a kenmore elite HE3 front load washer. Lately we have been getting the F05 error code. It is happening for every load. Sometimes the load will finish after pressing Pause/Cancel a couple of times. Is this an easily diagnosed and fixed problem? I am generally handy but not an expert in electronics repair. l am capable of following detailed instructions.

Thank you

Notsohandyguy, error F/05 means Water Temperature Sensor Error

If during the water heating step in the wash cycle, the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range, or the heating element circuit has failed, the “F/05” error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the Water Temperature Sensor, Heating Element and Element Relay

• Check connections to the Sensor, Heating Element and Relay

Download the service manual from the bottom of this page Around page 3-11 it'll show you the location etc. See if this will help you getting started.

Just fixed my HE3 elite front loading washer with the F05 error code. My model doesn't have the heating element, just the temperature sensor. Checked the sensor and it was fine. After much creative troubleshooting with a conductivity meter, I found one of the two wires broken under the tie-wrap to the drum - which obviously moves a lot. Spliced the wire, tested a load through the washer, patted myself on the back and popped a cold one. Total repair cost: one butt-connector.

Error f5 is due to a fault in the wash temperature sensor sometimes due to a breakdown or a bad connection. On some occasions the resistance may be damaged. Both the sensor and the resistance are in the wash tub.

I have a Kenmore 600 series top load washing machine h e uses hardly any water hard to get used to that one. I had the F5 error code come on and a clicking noise the door wouldn't lock here's what I did to fix it. I sprayed the mechanism from within the washer that didn't fix it then I dried it with the cloth and it stopped clicking and giving me the F5 error code I also plugged it into one of those circuit circuit plugs with the breaker in it those two things fix my problem so far so good

OK.. FYI--NOTHING, BUT NOTHING will happen if the "lid lock' is jammed up! I just found this out myself-there was a small object interfering with the lid lock mechanism. I removed the item, played eith the locking mechanism with my fingers, , UNPLUGGED washer for a minute, et, voila! She'a 'a workin' now!

Your dryer has a similar "safety switch on the door, makes no matter the brand- Nothing will work withoput that switch being happy, or, disabled, if you know how.

Hi! The f5 error has to do with the temperature sensor. The control board circuit does not recognize a change in resistance at the water temperature sensor. Most likely you have a loose connection at the sensor or the sensor is faulty. Another possibility is in the damage of the resistance that heats the water. To access and fix these devices you have to remove the front cover of the washing machine. Check first that the sensor and resistor connectors are not sulfated or charred. If not, test the sensor for continuity with the ohmmeter and then the resistance. If any of them mark open, it is that it is defective. you have to replace it.
