iPod says contact support after screen replacement

I had a screen die on me - top left corner stopped working. I got it replaced just fine, but the iPod doesn't work when reassembled. I've tried reseating all the ribbon cables to no success. The iPod boots to a screen that says to contact Apple support. Any ideas of what to try?

Have you tried to get it in diagnostics mode? When you say the top left corner stopped working, what exactly did not work?

You may need to hard reset it.

To reset your iPod:

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds.

3. You may need to repeat this step.

After couple of steps, it should be fine.

If it didn't, you may try to take apart and check the Drive cable latch if that is secured or just left not secured. Most of the time, this is the main issue because iPod can't boot up if the drive cable is not secured with the latch.

The original screen was damaged and so I replaced it. Unfortunately, I have now lost the ribbon cable latch for the upper ribbon cable and even holding it in place, I've been unable to get any signs of life out of the unit so I haven't successfully done the hard reset as suggested above.
