New battery wont charge correctly

I recently replaced the battery in my clamshell G3 graphite. Once I start the iBook it recognizes the battery and the charging symbol appears for about a few minutes, but then it switches to "no battery there".

The guy from salcar.de where I bought the battery says there are NO problems with that battery type from other customers.

Do I need to clean the contacts or is it an operating system problem, or do I need a new battery?

wann hast du den akku denn bekommen ???

wenn du ihn weniger als 2 wochen hast, schick ihn einfach zurück!!

du hast in deutschlad ein 2 wöchiges rückgaberecht wenn du bei einem online shop etwas gekauft hattest.

wenn du ihn schon länger haben solltest, versuche das ding zu tauschen (der händler ist zu einer 2 jährigen gewährleistung verpflichtet und du musst ihm in den ersten 6 wochen nichtmal etwas nachweisen - wenn der nicht geht, gib ihn zurück.

when did you receive the battery?

if it's been less than 2 weeks - send it back!

the german law says, that you can send the stuff, you ordered from an online shop, back within the first two weeks and get your money back. if the part is faulty, you can use the 2 year warranty - the vendor must replace or fix the part within the first 6 weeks without any doubt whose fault it is, after 6 weeks you must prove that it is a production problem

ICh denke, dass der Akku eventuell nicht das Problem ist, sondern der Rechner. Ich habe mit dem Händler gesprochen und ich kann ihn umtauschen. aber ich wollte mich vorher vergewissern, ob nicht jemand ein ähnliches Problem hatte. Das clamshell ist 10 Jahre alt und vielleicht liegt es an den Kontakten oder dem OS.

hi lars, i don't think that the os is the problem's source. i would try to rule some things out.

when you start the ibook - does it always take the same time until the battery goes from charging to no battery? maybe you should read this

Okay. Battery update wont work for OS 9.1 which is running on the clamshell. Where would I get a 10.3 on CD? --- When the computer is running and I take the battery out, it goes to "no battery". When I put the battery back in it shows the charging symbol (battery is 2 thirds blue colored and a red triangle at the very bottom). The light at the power connector is orange all the time. --- After 10-20 minutes the symbol goes to "no battery" and the battery is NOT charged. After taking the battery out and back in the same thing happens.
