I dropped my phone and the top of the front screen cracked. It isn't a major crack, just a bit around the front camera. I charged my phone, it constantly makes the charging noise (bong) but the screen won't light up and the phone doesn't turn on. I plugged it into my Macbook and iTunes does recognise it. ????

Somewhere the backlight circuit is broken. Could be the screen or the logic board. Try a new screen first, and if that doesn't work then start looking for blown filters with a multimeter.
