doesnt boot when restart the laptop
Hello,
I bought an old macbook pro 17 inch a1297 and later found that it did not have hard drive. So I installed a new blank hdd n somehow installed mountain lion through bootable usb.laptop works fine but with a boot problem. I always have to disconnect the battery connector from the board and reconnect to get it worked. If I do not do this, laptop just hangs at startup tone. Please help. I will be very grateful.

Do you have another Mac? If so what is it and do you have a firewire 800 cable?

I do not have another MAC. The positive thing is laptop works perfectly fine. I use it everyday but when I restart it or restart after shut down, it doesn't start but keeps giving start up tone. I'm wondering if I need to reset PRAM or SMC. Please advise.
No heating problem.
It doesn't hang when I use it.
Battery is fine.
