Home botton ribbon damaged

I was removing the home button flex , it was stuck on with adhesive so i took a knife and slid it under, i wasnt carefull i guess becasue i slipped a bit and cut the ribbon half ways. it still works but should i replece it or is the connection still good enough to keep working. i cant see the wires in the ribbon so im not sure what too do.:-( of course i know its a hard fix if i do have to replace it.
