Hello,
I did crack my screen on my iPhone 5s (which already had an unofficial screen) and wanted to replace it. Before usingthe suction cup I used a heat gun to apply heat. Now I basically seperated the glass+screen from the metal plate holding it and can't access the cable required to disconnect screen. How can I lift this metal plate? Here some pics:

Read this guide to know what lies underneath that metal plate, and familiarize with the screen replacement process.
- If you haven't already, remove the 2 pentalobe screws (step 2 of the guide) as no amount of pulling will do if the screws are still inserted.
- My favorite tool to use afterwards is this one. If you don't want to buy it, use something that will have a similar shape and thickness at the tip.
- Insert the iSesamo between the screen assembly and the aluminum frame at the bottom of the phone, between the left corner and the home button. There is an antenna located underneath the right corner that you may damage.
- Insert a couple of millimeters, gently, then twist the handle down so as to flip the display assembly up from the phone.
- Once you have a opening, slightly slide the iSesamo underneath the screen assembly and pull up. Be careful not to damage any underlying components and/or the battery. STAY ON THE LEFT as the logic board is located on the right and you risk damaging it.
- You need to be holding the screen assembly such that it will not lift by more than ½ an inch, otherwise you will tear the home button flat cable and loose your touch ID functionality
- Once the display has lifted by ½ an inch or about 1.5cm, follow the steps in the guide from Step 8 to continue removing the old screen and installing a new one.

I managed to do everything on the front panel side, but know there is the little problem that the front panel doesn't quite fit the rear part, as the top right edge of the iphone body is a little dent inward from the drop:

Is there any way to straighten the edge out a little so the screen fits in the body completely?

I have this problem ALL the time, you can try pulling it out with pliers but I just replace the whole housing which is easier for me as I can get them for around £8 and essentially adds value because the coniditon will be new (refurbished)
I used to hammer away (gently) with the help of a metal probing tool from this iFixit set (the 2nd one from the left). Sometimes, I would file the BOTTOM PLASTIC edge of the display (from the bottom - stay away from the glass!) if I only need room to squeeze in 1mm or less. Now I use the g-tool.
Either way, over doing it will cause the upper part of the back-case to separate from the middle frame along the horizontal dark line.
In my opinion, the best solution and most value-added thing you can do is follow David James' advice and replace all the back case. It is a bit of a PITA, especially transferring the pin that serves as a hinge for the power button and the power-mute-volume cable, but worth your time since your phone will look like new! If you need guidance, let us know. One last note: be extra careful around Step 11 of the screen replacement guide to avoid serious damage to your logic board.

who replaced the screen before you? that red film should not be left on... lol
also, you are not supposed to apply heat, theres nothing adhesive keeping the screen attached to the housing. whoever fixed that before has done a terrible job which is why the lcd shield is stuck.
I would put a small flathead scewdriver inbetween the side of the case and the shield and GENTLY pry it up. be careful of the home button because it is still attached to the logic board and if you tear it you have lost your fingerprint sensor forever.

Thanks for your answer. I purchased the phone like this on ebay, so I don't know who replaced it. Don't worry, the seller did state that the display was replaced.
