Upgrade / Toolkit for mac mini 2014

Hi im wondering when you will release a specific tool kit / SSD upgrade kit for the mac mini 2014. Or will it ever be released? Because i have a regular mechanic hdd on my mac mini 2014 that i want to upgrade to SSD.

Thanks for reply.

Besides the normal mini tool kit you will need this driver: TR6 Torx Security Screwdriver

You may want to think about using a SSHD drive Vs a straight SSD if you are planing on swapping out your current HD. Seagate makes a nice one. SSHD's (hybrid drive) has both a SSD acting as a deep cache for fast access and a traditional HD for the deep storage. Which is like a Fusion drive, just managed all within the drive its self.

Your other option (while its still early here), is to add in the Apple custom SSD blade. Right now they are not available but I suspect a 3rd party will be releasing something sometime next year. Then you could create an Apple Fusion Drive setup.

Will 9.5mm SSHD fit in to the HDD chassis of Mac Mini 2014? But what apple uses is 7mm. Can u please confirm? TIA

There's enough head room for the 9.5 mm drive

Any new news to share regarding this. Considering it has been 7 months.

I'm considering buying a 2.6Ghz, 8GB-RAM version, MGEN2KS/A model.

What aftermarket SSD options do I have available today?

I'm hoping to keep the 1TB drive inside it, but not necessarily make it a fusion drive.

So far none of the major 3rd party suppliers offer the M.2 blade SSD for this system. I would recommend you buy the SSD only model and upgrade the system with the 1 TB SATA HD Vs doing the reverse. Remember this series has different I/O ports for the SSD (M.2) & HD (SATA) unlike the older systems which had two SATA ports.

Thank you for the advice.
