When I boot my laptop, the boot screen takes over four minutes to boot up. Sometimes, it will just freeze on the boot screen and not boot at all, making me restart the laptop. What can cause this problem and how can I fix it?

First, do a back-up on your hard-drive. Once you've done that, consider replacing your hard-drive with a new SATA hard drive and doing a clean install on your OS. Then restore your back-up to reclaim your old files.
If this doesn't increase boot-up speed then you may have faulty RAM, which is much easier to replace.
