Rebuild prosessor to use OSX Lion

I bought my Mac Pro late in 2007. Production year 2007.

The prosessor 2x3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon.

Ram is 8 GB 667 MHz DDR FB-DIMM.

Is it possible to rebuild it?

Update

If it is possible to build on, so that I can use a newer operating system. Now the restriction is OSX 10.6.8. Problems with updating the browser and applications.

Define what you mean by "Rebuild". What are you looking for? Your systems architecture will limit you.

It still makes a good server box as a media server.

Sadly, I don't think there is any 'Apple' hardware you could use to upgrade this baby that is worth the costs.

If you like the case, think about creating a Hackintosh system. Basically you're taking the guts out and redoing it with standard Intel AT logic board with an i7 CPU. Here's a good resource HOW TO: The Perfect Hack Pro (Mac Pro) build using an original Mac Pro case & parts.

Pre-Installed MacOS: X 10.4.7 (8K1079) Maximum MacOS: X 10.7.5*

*This system can run the last version of OS X 10.7 "Lion" if upgraded to at least 2 GB of RAM. However, although it has a 64-bit processor, it has a 32-bit EFI and cannot boot in 64-bit mode. It also does not support "OpenCL" running the default video card or the other build-to-order video cards that were offered via custom configuration. Please also note that OS X Lion is not capable of running Mac OS X apps originally written for the PowerPC processor as it does not support the "Rosetta" environment.
