After short use of Tab, indicator goes down very quickly and tells me to charge, when I know it shouldn't need it. If I switch off and back on indicator goes back up to a more believable level. I can carry on using and then same thing happens again. I always wait until battery very low before charging fully.

Most likely you are using the charger is not original or one of the amps not suitable for Galaxy Tab.
Or that the problem is a bug, then it should update software or restore the factory default values.

Thanks.Charger is original which came with the tablet. However I have run battery down until would barely switch on and recharged overnight. Not had same problem yet. Tablet still under warranty so will return if happens again.
